Yoni Steaming has been around since the earliest recorded time. Even though. Modern science hasn’t been able to prove its benefit, many cultures use it as a way to connect in sacred woman’s circles, add aid and support for life changes, and as a way to recalibrate once essences.

Think of Yoni Steaming as you would a simmer pot you pot on a stove or a heated aroma diffuser. Herbs and florals mixed with filtered purified water in a non corrosive container (no teflon or non stick pots) releasing its essences via water vapor to fill your space. In this case the space will be between the legs while covered with a non-synthetic blanket, long skirt, or gown.

Yoni Steaming is not to be confused with douching or bathing as the herbal mixture is not something to be soaking in or inserted in the body. Essentially you are creating a hydrosol from the herbs and florals as the steam rises offering hydration, water soluble vitamins and minerals that are transported up. Do not drink or consume under any circumstances. This is not a drinkable blend or tea.

The base of this herbal floral blend is motherwort, mugwort, chamomile, and calendula flowers. No essential oils are used as they should never be inserted or steamed into the vagina. (When creating a sacred soaking bath carrier oils are used so it doesn’t burn the skin, but you have to be mindful of the body’s ph levels) That is one of the reasons why yoni steaming is different. Depending on the reasons why you are steaming, other herbs and florals are added or removed to this base mixture. If you are allergic to, or have medicines that interact with any of the herbs or florals in the blend do not steam. Just because you are not taking it orally does’t mean you won’t have a reaction.

Do Not Use if you are menstruating, have recently had surgery or vaginal trauma, are pregnant, have an IUD, have a pelvic or bacterial/fungal infection, have a fever, and/or are sensitive to heat/temperature.

The steam helps to relax the body, aromatherapy helps to relax the mind, and the vapor helps to sooth, soften, and hydrate the skin inside and out. The steaming process is typically between 20-45mins. During this time, you can meditate, chant, enjoy sacred background music or guided meditation, but most benefit from taking moments to be quiet, still, and relax with this for of body care.

Although they are organic, these herbs are not to be ingested or mixed with any food or beverages. After use discard the brewed water down a drain, and herbs in the trash. To brew the blend, measure out 1/4-1/3 cup of the dry blend to put in 2-4 cups of filtered purified water. Bring water to a rolling boil and turn off the heat. Allow the blend to steep by covering with a lid for 6-10 mins. Set aside for 3-5 mins or until mixture is not hot. When removing the cover use the back of your hand to test to see if the steam is comfortable. Remove most if not all of the herb/flowers from the water. Transport with the lid on to the area you are going to steam. Pour about 1-2 cups (save the rest incase you need to add to it to make the steam a big warmer) of the steeped water into a non corrosive, non porous, non toxic/ non teflon or not a non stick material bowl placed in the yoni chair or seat. If using plastic make sure it is BPA Free. 

Cover your lower half with a non synthetic blanket or fumigation gown. Squat, hover, or sit comfortably over the mixture to allow steam to rise for 20-45mins. Do not touch or insert liquid in or on the body. If the steam is too hot; Get off the pot! Allow the steam to cool down more before trying to steam. After steaming, discard water down the drain and remaining used herbal/ floral in the trash. Do not reuse the brew or blend. DO NOT CONSUME OR DRINK THIS HERBAL BLEND. THIS IS NOT A DRINK OR TEA. Hydrate with room temperature water during the steam as well as eat a sensible meal and continue to hydrate after. Avoid alcohol, depressants, stimulants, or anything that can cause dehydration such as coffee or substances before, durning, and after steaming.
